Moved from Japan to U.S. in 1989. Living in Kent, Washington.

 

Started to take koto lessons since 5 years old. Learned under Yumiko Kawakami in Tokyo, Shukin Noda in Kyoto and Kuniko Takamura in Seattle.

 

Plays traditional koto music, modern songs and church songs.

 

She plays at local event, company events, schools, nursing homes, wedding receptions, memorial services, private parties and so on to share her passion.

Apprentice

Growing up, he had only played the saxophone and guitar. It wasn't until age 29 that
he came across a used koto in a market in downtown Seattle. Nick knew he had to learn this amazing instrument and Mirei Zaborac was kind enough to begin teaching Nick in 2021.

Takako Satoh

Takako Satoh started playing the koto at age 6, taking Yamada school lessons from Reiho Hiyoshi of Numazu, then Ikuta school lessons from Eisei Togashi in Tokyo.  After moving to Seattle, Takako started Miyagi school lessons under tutorage of Mrs. Kuniko Takamura and Ms. Marcia Takamura.  She performs both in public venues and private events such as receptions, weddings and fundraisings.
